The 2.3% Medical Excise Tax that began on January 1st is supposed to be “hidden” from the consumer, but it’s been brought to the public’s attention by hunting and fishing store Cabela’s who have refused to hide it and are showing it as a separate line item tax on their receipts, the email states.
I did some research and found directly from the IRS’s
website information that PROVES this to be true and
an accurate portrayal of something hidden in Obamacare that I was not aware of!
Now being skeptical of this I went to the IRS website and found this!
Q1. What is the medical device excise tax?
A1. Section 4191 of the Internal Revenue Code imposes an excise tax on the sale of certain medical devices by the manufacturer or importer of the device.
Q2. When does the tax go into effect? A2. The tax applies to sales of taxable medical devices after Dec. 31, 2012.
Q3. How much is the tax? A3. The tax is 2.3 percent of the sale price of the taxable medical device. See Chapter 5 of IRS Publication 510, Excise Taxes, and Notice 2012-77 for additional information on the determination of sale price.

So being more curious I clicked on “Chapter 5
of IRS Publication 510.” And what do I find under “MEDICAL DEVICES” under “MANUFACTURERS TAXES”?
The following discussion of manufacturers taxes applies to the tax on:
Sport fishing equipment;
Fishing rods and fishing poles;
Electric outboard motors;
Fishing tackle boxes;
Bows, quivers, broadheads, and points;
Arrow shafts;
Coal;
Taxable tires;
Gas guzzler automobiles; and
Vaccines.
I think we have definitely been fooled, if we believe that the Affordable Care Act is all about health care. It truly does appear to be nothing more than a bill laden with a whole lot of taxes that we the people have yet to be aware of.
Please pass this on. I am still incredulous that this can go on . Where is our press? I guess it’s just like Nancy Pelosi said……. We have to pass it to see what is in it. What is next? What else is there we do not know about? I am sick to death about our government……all of them!!!!!! We have all been fooled by the leaders that were voted into office, they lied to us by omission. Do you want to revolt against the TAX MAN? Then we need to send a message to congress that we are on strike and will not pay any taxes this year. I am calling on everyone to refuse to pay your taxes this year.
I for one have had enough, the IRS and congress lied, cheated, and stolen wealth from the very citizens they are suppose to protect and work for. It’s time they got notice; we are not going to fund a government that steals from the citizens to create a welfare state.

A simple search will prove this is a thourghily debunked article. Cabbelas CEO is on record as saying this was done in error to a very few customers, and their over charge was refunded. The law does not apply to retail items and businesses like Cabbalas will not be required to impose the fee.
Really well funny out of all the hits YOUR the only person who has definitive knowledge this is true. Somehow I don’t believe you since it is written into the IRS code, or did you not click on that link?

That is fine and dandy, so why is it written into the TAX CODE???? You never answered that question?????
Valid points yet one thing is left out of the argument. When you shut it down that is temporary, not permanent, I am not calling for nihilism. Would you rather have a rouge government (like we have now) impose more lunatic laws instead of reform. Your point only excuses the bastards not recalling them, or better yet, firing them. How will real reform began? If you let the status qua run amok then where is the reform? I agree we have a good system, yet it has been bastardized into, who has the most funding runs the country. Or as you like to refer to old sayings “he who has the gold rules”. What I am saying is the government has to be brought down to its knees and slash the government in half, cut welfare programs to the bone and deal with real issues (welfare reform, overspending, waste, abuse, fraud etc..) that face the nation. Jobs and the economy, that is how you get growth. The Constitution was a simple document, only bureaucrats have created so many laws they conflict with each other, so they can pick and choose what to enact, at the leisure. You know this to be true. This government has grown way to big, now more than half the country relies on some form of gov’t funding, is that what you want? Its painfully obvious these jackass will not do it willingly, they have a paycheck and pension to protect, while the rest of the country waits for a hand out. I have said this for over a decade, hell when I was in high school in 85 we knew social security was not going to be around when we were old, do you see that changing. That has been over 20 years ago and the progression is only worse, not better.

Shutting down or disposing of our present ‘government’ is a naive solution and a child-like reaction. This would quickly manifest itself into a ‘warlord’ environment of brutal rule by even worse elements of society such as ‘Bloods’, ‘Crypts’, organized crime, para-military thugs, etc., to fill the void. The populace would soon pray for the return of the merely corrupt and thieving politicians. Besides, it’s not Constitutional ‘government’ that is systemically at fault. It is in fact, fundamentally, the best system of governance conceived by man in all of history. IT IS THE VILE, CORRUPT AND EVIL INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE OBTAINED CONTROL OF THE ‘GOVERNMENT’ THAT IS THE ACTUAL CAUSE OF OUR PLIGHT! Rationally, it is the elimination of of these particular persons within the confines of an otherwise great system of governance, that is the real and pragmatic solution. What is that old saying? ‘Don’t throw out the baby with the bathwater’. Shit! If these demonic individuals were to somehow gain access to heaven itself, they would in short order turn it into Hell! Furthermore, solely eliminating the present existing system of Constitutional government and leaving these demons to survive, I assure you, with their wealth and continued influence they will eventually worm their way back into whatever ‘new’ governmental system is created, undoubtedly assisted by them in its creation, and the situation will be even worse next time around.
